Tonsillitis alert!!!

Ahhhhhhhh!

I'm glad to say that I am now as fit as a fiddle!

1 week ago,

I was in for a super disastrous week!

20 May 2011

After IBF exam in the afternoon

My head felt so heavy and it was as if

Hundreds of hammers were pounding on my head

I know in an instant

That's a sign of getting ill

:(

I sprinted home for a good nap right after exam

Hoping that the heavy head would go away

Unfortunately, Lady Luck wasn't with me

Instead of feeling better, I got worse

When I woke up from a juicy nap,

My head felt heavier than ever

And the headache got worst to the extend that I thought my head's gonna

BURST!

I quickly gobbled up 2 panadols and continued my revision for my final paper

Which is due on 22nd May

When my exams came to an end,

I did not get any better

Instead,

I developed very bad headache + fever + sore throat + cough!

(What could be worse huh?)

The next day

I went over to Sunway Hospital for a check up

The doctor only provided me with medication for my

severe headache

As I already have panadol.

24th June 2011

The good news is, my fever + headache subsided

The bad news is:

I had such a bad SORE THROAT!!!

I could hardly eat + drink

Subsequently I couldn't even talk!

I SMS-ed Mom about my condition and boy,

I got her worried

:(

The next day, she immediately flew to Sunway

(=') Thanks Mom!)

I was in a bad shape as I've totally lost my voice

I felt burning sensation on my throat

And the sore was so intense that I felt splitting ear pain!!

I had to constantly drink water even though it hurts badly

It hurts badly even when I swallow my own saliva!

I couldn't even finish a simple bowl of Bee Hoon Soup.

My few days diet were only half a bowl of Bee Hoon Soup

:(

I couldn't even swallow porridge

So...

Mom nabbed me from Sunway

And took me back to Penang the very next day

Dad even kept SMS-ing me from China and inquire about my situation

I was taken to Pantai Hospital for a check up

Went to A&E actually

Upon inspection,

The doctor said I have quite a bad "throat infection"

Also, I weighed only 39kg!!!

So Mom got me admitted to the Hospital

And I was in for 3 nights

During the 3 nights stay

I was monitored by a ENT Doctor

The Doctor explained that my situation is called

Tonsillitis

In essence, Tonsillitis refers to inflammation (swelling) of the tonsils.

The tonsils (Refer pic 2) are lymph nodes  (Refer pic 3) in the back of the mouth

and top of the throat.

They normally help to filter out bacteria and

other germs to prevent infection in the body.

The tonsils may become so overwhelmed by a bacterial

or viral infection

 that they swell and become inflamed, causing tonsillitis (Refer pic 1).

The infection may also be present in the throat and areas around it,

causing inflammation of the pharynx.

The pharynx is in the back of the throat, between the tonsils and voicebox (larynx)

So yes, I had Tonsillitis.

During my hospital stay,

I was given super strong doses of medications

+

super strong antibiotic injections

which resulted in me having diarrhea every time I needed to take a leak!!!

Arghhhhh

But the Doctor said: No choice, you'll still have to take the antibiotic.

:(

Anyway,

I was called to the Doctor's clinic

on my 2nd day stay in the Hospital

He inserted a long tube with a tiny spec of light + camera

at the end of the tube

into my nostrils + throat

From the TV, I could see swelling with pus behind my nose

as well as my swollen tonsils!!

It's kinda gross to watch that =\

(Too bad Mom wasn't around when the Doctor inserted the long tube.)

So I was given a good lesson about Tonsillitis:

Uses of tonsils as well as its prevention

Well, enough about stories regarding my hospital stay

All I can say is that I made a quick recovery within 3 days

Thanks to the super antibiotic

And right now I could

SINGGGGGGGGGGGGG~~~~~

hehehe

I'm now back to Sunway

Just got back today

I'm gonna pack up my stuffs

Getting ready to move out

Pack my luggage to go on a holiday in

Guangzhou, Macau and Hong Kong!!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~

Can't wait for another 2 days to come!!!
